We love children! Heartland, A Church Connected has a vibrant, creative and growing children's ministry that provides a safe environment where kids can connect with our God, each other, our community and world!
Below you will find our Sunday experiences for specific age groups that cater to the needs of your child. If you have any questions please contact our Children's Ministry Director Vinnie Philipose at firstname.lastname@example.org.
SUNDAY MORNING IN CHILDREN'S MINISTRY:
We want to ensure the safety of each and every child who enters our care on a Sunday morning. That process begins at KIDZ CHECK-IN.
To further ensure the safety of the children placed in our care, we carefully follow Plan to Protect® guidelines. Each and every volunteer is required to pass through a thorough screening process before they can be placed in a position of trust.
NURSERY (NEWBORN - 2 YRS)
During Sunday morning worship gatherings your child is welcomed to a safe and dependable environment where excellent Nursery Care is provided. Infants and toddlers have the opportunity to enjoy an interactive environment with qualified and dedicated volunteers.
PRE-SCHOOL (AGES 3-5)
Through interactive stories, games and crafts, your children will participate in the development of their awareness of God’s great love. We will help your child begin to understand three basic truths: God made me, God loves me and Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
In Preschool, we continue to use the Orange curriculum called First Look, that combines the critical influences of the church and home to the incite wonder, provoke discovery and fuel passion in the hearts of the next generation. Everything we teach our preschoolers is based on one of the three simple, but powerful truths. The entire curriculum is constructed to meet your preschoolers where they are cognitively, spiritually, physically, emotionally and socially. Thorough age appropriate activities, preschoolers are building their spiritual foundation so that by the time they graduate to Kindergarten they know these three basic truths: God made me, God loves me & Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
Here at Heartland Kids one of our values is partnering with parents to make disciples. Materials will be sent home either weekly or monthly to encourage the learning to continue at home. ideas for play time, bath time, while you are driving and even cuddling will be provided for you to connect what presechoolers are learning at church with what they are hearing at home. There is a Parent CUE app available for IOS and Android where you can the weekly videos together as a family.

KIDCO (GRADES 1-5)
KidCo. is an interactive, engaging environment for kids in grades 1-5 to interact with the Bible in a tangible way. Each week, our KidCo. team works hard to help your child grasp Biblical principles in a fun way and grow in their personal relationship with Jesus – no matter what stage of the journey they’re at.
At the beginning of this year, we started a new curriculum called the Gospel Project, which immerses kids in the gospel through every story, theological concept and call to mission from Genesis to Revelation. At the end of the day, it is the gospel message that changes everything; heart transformation can only take place when a child experiences the gospel. Through the Gospel Project for Kids, kids will understand the Bible is not just a collection of stories, but one unified story--God's story of reception. Each week, The Gospel Project for Kids brings these stories to life through video, music, activities, and more.
Each week, your child will be given an activity page to take home. This page is a recap of their lesson, with a journal page to reflect on their learning, and fun activities for them to do. There is also an area with some questions for you to talk about with your child, to help them apply the principles they learn on Sunday throughout the week. We want to equip you with resources to make sure our kids are practicing what they’re learning!
September: Jesus is the Anointed One (Key Passage: Luke 4:18)
As people began to turn against Jesus, He journeyed toward Jerusalem where He knew He would be arrested and crucified. Jesus continued to tell people that they needed to repent, and He prepared His true followers for his death.
October: Jesus the Saviour (Key Passage: Ephesians 2:8-9)
Kids will learn how soon after Jesus arrived in Jerusalem, He was betrayed, arrested, tried, and crucified. However, the darkest moment of the story became the brightest when Jesus rose from the dead to provide forgiveness for all of God’s people.
November: Jesus the Risen King (Key Passage: 1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
After Jesus rose from the dead, He spent 40 more days proving that He was alive and prepared His followers to continue His mission after He returned to heaven to be with His Father.
CONNECT @HOME: FAMILY DISCIPLESHIP KITS
We believe that discipleship should happen at all ages and stages - and we want to help you help your kids grow in their faith! For this reason, we’ve de- signed Connect@Home to partner with parents by providing easy-to-use disci- pleship kits every month.
Each kit includes a “Big Idea” - the main message you’ll be focussing on as you work through that month’s kit. Since every child learns differently, the “Big Idea” is delivered in multiple ways - through Bible reading, through discussion questions, and through an object lesson specially designed for parents to do with their kids to drive the point home. These object lessons are designed to be hands-on, to engage even the most active kids! Don’t worry - we’ll include all the tools and supplies you need in each kit to do the activity at home to- gether!
Once you’ve done your object lesson, you’ll have a follow-up question for each week to keep the conversation going. They’re designed to help you have casu- al yet meaningful conversations about scriptural truths with your kids - on the way to school, in the grocery store, or around the breakfast table.
Created by our own team, the kits are available on the first Sunday of each month in the foyer. Pick yours up next month and give it a try! We can’t wait to hear about how your family is growing in faith together.
